Reaching The Top - The Test of Fame

Have you ever noticed how some people seem to go a little crazy or become someone else once they reach a certain level of "success?"

There's an old proverb that says,

"If you want to test someone's heart, give them a little fame."

Fascinating, right?!

The first time I read this proverb I was expecting it to end differently. I was thinking it was going to say, "give them a little money," or "give them a little power." or something more material. It stopped me in my tracks when it finished with, "give them a little fame" and I knew I needed to reflect on that.

Fame can be a powerful influencer on a person's view of themselves and their status in the world. It can easily cause an inflated ego. Only those with a strong and grounded heart can still recognize their equality to others while supposedly being exalted by fame.
